Part of the Sustainable Stoneham initiative
North Stoneham Community Group organises regular community litter picking activities that help improve the local environment, support community wellbeing and encourage positive environmental action within North Stoneham.
Our litter picks bring residents together to care for shared spaces, reduce pollution and help create a cleaner, greener and more welcoming community for everyone.
Why We Run Community Litter Picks
Community litter picking is a simple but effective way for residents to make a positive difference to the local environment.
By removing litter from public spaces, footpaths and green areas, we help improve the appearance of the local area, protect wildlife and encourage greater pride and respect for shared community spaces.
The activities also provide opportunities for residents to come together, meet new people and take part in practical environmental action within the community.
Community & Environmental Benefit
Through our litter picking activities, we aim to:
- Improve local green spaces and shared environments
- Reduce pollution and environmental damage
- Help protect wildlife and natural habitats
- Encourage community pride and environmental responsibility
- Bring residents together through positive community action
- Create opportunities for volunteering and participation
All activities are designed to provide environmental and social benefit to the wider community.
Working Together
Our litter picks are supported by volunteers, local organisations and community partners who share our commitment to improving the local environment.
By working together, we aim to encourage long-term positive environmental habits and create cleaner, safer and more welcoming shared spaces within North Stoneham.

Our litter picking activities are open to everyone and no previous experience is needed.
