North Stoneham Community Garden
Part of the Sustainable Stoneham initiative
The North Stoneham Community Garden is a shared community space that brings people together through sustainable gardening, environmental action and community participation.
The garden provides opportunities for residents to grow food, support biodiversity, learn new skills and take practical steps to improve the local environment. It is designed to be a welcoming and inclusive space where people of all ages can get involved and enjoy the benefits of spending time outdoors within the community.
Why We Run the Community Garden
The Community Garden was created to encourage sustainable living and provide a shared green space that benefits both the environment and the wider community.
Through gardening and environmental activities, we aim to promote local food growing, support biodiversity and encourage positive environmental action within North Stoneham.
The garden also provides opportunities for people to connect with others, volunteer within the community and support community wellbeing through shared outdoor activity.
Community & Environmental Benefit
Through the Community Garden, we aim to:
- Promote sustainable food growing and gardening
- Improve local green spaces and the environment
- Support biodiversity, environmental awareness and the protection of local green spaces
- Encourage volunteering and community participation
- Create opportunities for learning and sharing skills
- Support community wellbeing and reduce isolation
All activities are designed to provide clear environmental and social benefit to the wider community.
Growing Together
The Community Garden is maintained by volunteers and supported through community involvement.
Produce grown within the garden may be used to support local community initiatives, including the Sustainable Stoneham Community Fridge, helping to encourage local growing and reduce food waste within the community.
The garden also provides opportunities for residents to learn about gardening, sustainability, biodiversity and caring for shared community spaces.
Get Involved
There are many ways to get involved with the Community Garden, whether through helping maintain the space, taking part in gardening sessions, supporting environmental activities or volunteering at community events.
No gardening experience is needed and everyone is welcome to get involved.
