2022 Christmas Event
We see our Christmas event as the highlight of the year! In 2022, we placed a 20ft Christmas tree outside YMCA Eastleigh and then held a switch-on event.
Hundreds of people turned up on the day, despite the drizzle! During the event, we:
- were visited by Santa, who set up a grotto upstairs in the YMCA.
- had performances on stage from the children of Stoneham Park Academy.
- were entertained by Anna and Elsa from Frozen.
- had local businesses with stalls selling Christmas gifts.
- provided free food to over 400 people, courtesy of our friends at Lidl Southampton.
- even had some ‘snow’ during the light switch on!
The tree lights were switched on by the Mayor of Eastleigh, Councillor Adam Manning.
Later on in the month, we hosted Community Carols around the tree. Everyone gathered and sang, accompanied by a brass band. We provided free hot drinks to everyone.
In the dead of the night, we placed knitted Stars across the estate for people to hang on their Christmas Tree. In 2021, we did something similar with knitted Angels. We hope to do something similar every year!
